SYMKOM 2011- INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON COMPRESSOR & TURBINE FLOW SYSTEMS - THEORY & APPLICATION AREAS – Łódź,  October 26-28, 2011

On October  26-28, 2011 the 10th International Symposium SYMKOM 2011 that follows the tradition of meetings of people who conduct scientific, research and development activities in the field of turbomachinery: turbines, compressors and pumps, and modern power engineering technologies, was held in Lodz. The Institute of Turbomachinery is a coordinator of the research project entitled: "Development of the type series of single disk artificial heart valves for paediatric ventricular assist devices". The project aim is to design and manufacture one-disk valves. The financial support granted amounts to 3 000 000 PLN. The execution time: 01.01.2011 - 31.12.2013.

 

 

 

 

On the basis of a contact with the National Center for Research and Development, Poland, a research project entitled “Theoretical investigations and a test stand for micropower plant designed for investigations of hybrid Rankine’s cycles for dispersed energy distribution” is conducted at the Institute of Turbomachinery, Technical University of Lodz. The financial support granted amounts to 1 200 000.00 PLN. The execution time: 01.07.2009 – 30.06.2012.

 

                           

The Institute of Turbomachinery, Technical University of Lodz, is one of partners in the Inter-Institute Research Team for realization of the Individual Key Project  “Micro- and Nano-systems in Chemistry and Biomedical Diagnostics”. The project is conducted within the Innovative Economy Operational Programme 2007-2013, Priority 1, Investigations and development of modern technologies, Task 1.3. Support of scientific research to develop a knowledge-based economy, Subtask 1.3.1 Development projects. The project is financed with the European Funds for Regional Development. The financial support granted is equal to 19 760 000.00 PLN, including 520 000.00 PLN for the Technical University of Lodz. The execution time: 01.02.2009 – 31.12.2012.

The Institute of Turbomachinery, Technical University of Lodz, is one of executors of the programme for the years 2007-2011 entitled “Polish Artificial Heart” within the task P03 “Development of the design of heart aiding clinical systems”. The team headed by Prof. K. Jóźwik deals with “Development of mechanical heart valves and an air supply system for the heart aiding pneumatic chamber activator” that involves design, manufacturing and testing of disk heart valves for pulsating heart prostheses and a system of compressor that is to supply pneumatic heart activators. The total financial support granted amounts to 30 000 000.00 PLN, including 530 400.00 PLN for the Institute of Trubomachinery.

On January 30, 2009 a new lecture hall was given the name of Prof. Władysław R. Gundlach, the founder and the first director of the Institute of Turbomachinery, Technical University of Lodz.
